A fast eight-seater chairlift from 1,722 to 2,120 metres replaces the old two-seater. Less queuing, more runs.

Kreischberg hosted the 2015 FIS Freestyle and Snowboard World Championships. The snow park even has an airbag so you can practise jumps safely.

With a multi-day ski pass you can also ski at the sister resort of Lachtal: 36 km of pistes and the highest lift station in Styria, at 2,222 m. Want even more variety? Take a look at the Mur-Mürz Top Skipass or the Steiermark-Joker.

Taking a rest day? At Woody Park, a few kilometres away, you can meet alpacas, rabbits and fallow deer. A favourite with children, in winter too.

The indoor pool in Murau, 7 km away, is the only one in the region. It has a 25-metre pool, a 34-metre slide for the children and a sauna area with a Finnish sauna, a steam bath and an infrared cabin, among others. You will also find restaurants and cafés in Murau. For a day at the thermal spa, drive to Aqualux Therme Fohnsdorf, 55 km away.

At the end of the ski season, the whole of Kreischberg throws a party. At Der Kreischer, almost a thousand participants race in a single run from the Rosenkranzhöhe down to the valley. Anyone aged 10 or over can take part, on skis, a snowboard or anything else that slides. Fancy dress is half the fun, as there is a prize for the best outfit. Bands play at the huts along the course, and at the finish a water pool awaits anyone chasing the fastest time. Après-ski with live music follows at the valley station.
For children there is the Kids Kreischer. Spectators watch from the terraces of Eagle, Kreischbergwirt and Grillboden, among others. So far the event has been held every two years, most recently on 21 March 2026. You will find the next date and registration on the website.
