Golf between the Nockberge and the Mur near Murau
Just 1.7 km from the apartment lies one of the finest courses in Austria. The 18-hole course sits in the valley between Kreischberg and Murau, bordered on one side by the River Mur and surrounded by the wooded slopes of the Nockberge. In 2008 it was voted Austria's best new golf course.

The course
Generously laid out, with plenty of space between the holes. Woods, hedges and ponds give every hole its own character. You play on undulating greens, with water alongside and in front of the holes, plus peninsula and island greens. Wooden palisades around the ponds, greens and bunkers are a nod to the Holzwelt Murau, the timber region the course is set in.
Around the course
An old alpine hut serves as the halfway house. A 300-year-old farmhouse is home to the greenkeepers. After your round, eat and drink at Eagle, the inn at the golf course, or on the clubhouse terrace overlooking the island green of the 18th hole.
New to golf
Never played before? The golf school run by coaches Eva and Wolfgang helps beginners and improvers alike. The starter package (€450 for the first season) gives you course permission, hire equipment and playing rights. Or simply hit a bucket of balls on the driving range.
